Collagen comprises 30% of the protein in your body, and 70% of the protein in your skin. There are so many promised benefits of collagen supplements — healthier hair, skin, nails, bones, even digestion — and animal-sourced collagen from cows and fish is becoming super-popular in the supplement world. But how can you get collagen from plants? And are there ways to stimulate collagen production…with plants? Herbalist Rachelle Robinett has you covered, and she’ll show you how to make a delicious, fruity-herbal vegan collagen lassi in your blender as well.
Recipe:
1/2 cup rose tea
1 cup alt yogurt (plain, Rachelle prefers Lavva)
1/2 cup oat milk
1 inch piece fresh ginger
4 TBSP golden raisins, soaked
3 dates, pitted
4 tsp collagen tonic (Rachelle uses Anima Mundi’s)
Add all ingredients to blender, blend until smooth, serve warm or chilled.
